Use Access Keys Criterion

Assign access keys to popular links.

  • Providing clearly defined access keys to the navigation links and any other important or popular links on your site such as search boxes, contact info, etc, can make navigation more accessible. This applies especially for users not using a mouse.
  • Make certain they do not conflict with hotkeys associated with Windows or any other assistive technology. Using the numbers one to zero is the best option.
  • Spider can check if access keys are assigned.
  • Manual check will make certain the assigned access keys do not conflict with anything.
  • Points -
    • Three if you assign access keys and tell users about them either on page or on a separate 'accessibility page'.
    • Two points if Access Keys assigned and they do not clash with other hotkeys.
  • Criterion weighting of one.
