Focus Access Keys Criterion

Items on a page should receive focus without activating their function - i.e. links, checkboxes, etc.

• Users need to tab between links, form fields, dropdown boxes, checkboxes and radio buttons without activating them.
• In order to activate anything users should have to hit the enter key or tab to a 'go' button and then hit enter.
• If a function activates merely by receiving focus it means that a blind user or a keyboard only user cannot browse your pages.
• Points -
  • Three points if everything can receive focus without activation.
  • Two points if links receive focus without activation.
  • One point if form fields/buttons receive focus without activation.
• Criterion weighting is three.
