Plug-ins Access Keys Criterion
If using plug-ins:
- Use a plug-in that meets UAAG guidelines.
- Provide links to the plug-in.
- Make it device independent if possible.
- Use free plug-ins.
- If all else fails provide alternative content.
- This accessibility issue affects all users and especially those using assistive technologies or non-traditional devices. Use an easily downloadable plug-in built to specification and available free for all users. This should work on any browser or any input device and will enable as many people as possible to take full advantage of the content of your website.
- However, we realise this ideal is not always possible - especially in terms of providing multimedia content and backwards compatibility. If you cannot find a plug-in to meet all these needs you can always provide a different version of your content - even if it does not provide the full scope of the experience.
- Points - Sites will receive 0.60 points for each of the above making a possible three points in total.
- Criterion weighting of three.
