Criteria Relating to Usability

The criteria in this section relate to the general usability of a site and apply not only to users with disabilities, but in many cases to all users. You should choose colours for text that contrast properly with your background colours. You should make certain that your pages have a consistent layout and that you use no fixed width sizes. Offer help in filling out forms and avoid timeouts or page refreshes. You should also avoid causing anything unexpected to happen when a link or form field is activated. Try to use clear and simple language and offer definitions of any technical and unusual words.
